Galway is the capital of the West of Ireland, a thriving modern university city, situated on the banks of the River Corrib. A uniquely cosmopolitan city with something for everyone, it attracts thousands of visitors each year. The popular seaside resort, Salthill, lies just 3km west of the city and boasts the longest promenade in Ireland.
Galway is also an important centre for promoting the Arts, Crafts and Culture and is home to a number of excellent Art Galleries which promote both Irish and international art. One of Europe's fastest growing cities, it still manages to retain much of its old world Medieval charm with pedestrianised streets and narrow laneways.
During your visit to Galway you can join in the unique atmosphere and delight in its festivals, music, theatre, restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops and most of all, its friendly people.
